Modern Internet architecture for critical infrastructures ensures security, resiliency, data sovereignty, and control

Amsterdam, October 1, 2024 - Anapaya, a network solutions leader, announced during TechEx Europe in Amsterdam that the next-generation Internet, SCION, is now available in Benelux through cloud providers with full availability in 2025. Anapaya provides companies a way to securely share critical business data across the Internet between corporate sites, trusted partners, and cloud providers. By launching the SCION Internet in Benelux, Anapaya offers secure and resilient connectivity that makes your service reachable to authorized partners without exposure to the public internet. Benelux is the first area outside of Switzerland where full SCION access coverage has been deployed to all internet accesses (approximately thirty million users).

Secure technology offering next-gen Internet

Anapaya, founded in Switzerland, offers the SCION Internet , which is based on a decade of research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). Ever since, many well-known Swiss organizations in the finance, utility, healthcare, education, and defense industries have been using the SCION Internet architecture to secure remote access and business-critical services. SCION’s groundbreaking technology offers secure routing, resiliency against DDoS attacks, and high availability.

SCION stands for Scalability, Control, and Isolation on Next-generation Networks. It redefines how data moves across the Internet. The traditional Internet protocols route data along arbitrary paths, and neither senders nor receivers can influence the path that their packets take. This approach results in downsides such as lack of transparency and control. SCION, however, allows for precise control over the data flow, ensuring that packets travel through pre-defined, secure paths, ensuring data sovereignty that is required by some compliance regulations.

Increased security and resiliency

With SCION, data traffic is not only more secure but also more resilient. The protocol’s multi-path routing capability ensures that even if one path fails, data can instantly switch to another route, maintaining uninterrupted service and offering organizations a more reliable, secure, and compliant way to transmit data.

Martin Bosshardt, CEO, at Anapaya, is proud that SCION Internet is now available in Benelux as well. “Our aim is to enable organizations to fully control their data; so not only where the data is going, but exactly how the data gets there. The traditional Internet doesn’t provide that. Many Benelux companies are managing critical data and do need secure solutions to ensure uninterrupted business continuity. This is particularly important in the present uncertain times where hacks and cyber-attacks are becoming everyday concerns. Businesses are constantly facing online threats. With the SCION Internet, Benelux-based organizations are now able to use an Internet which provides digital data sovereignty without interruptions and security concerns, providing seamless access and usage for unparalleled reliability.”

Since its launch in Switzerland, well-known companies have implemented SCION, such as the Swiss National Bank, SIX, UBS, AXPO, Health Info Net, and many more.

Availability

SCION is available through all major hyperscalers and over one hundred and fifty smaller cloud providers in the Benelux region. Services running in the SCION Internet require two Anapaya EDGE-routers that are powered by international network providers.
